Best months: All year. From 27 November 2026 to 3 January 2027 the Óbidos Vila Natal Christmas village runs inside the castle area (ticketed; closed 25 Dec and 1 Jan).

Getting there and around (check on the day)

Rodoviária do Oeste 'Rápida Verde' express bus from Lisboa Campo Grande (Metro yellow and green lines) towards Caldas da Rainha, stopping at Óbidos; about 1 hour. Timetable in force since 6 October 2026, roughly hourly on weekdays and less often at weekends; not every departure stops at Óbidos, so read the Óbidos column. Use the bus, not the train: we found no practical Lisbon–Óbidos train. Check on the day.
