Getting there and around (check on the day)

CP Intercidades from Lisboa Oriente (also stopping at Entrecampos, Sete Rios and Pragal) to Évora, about 1 h 40–1 h 45, no change. Timetable valid since 6 September 2026: six departures on weekdays, fewer at weekends and holidays (some trains run Monday–Friday only). Check the CP timetable on the day.

Where to sleep

No night needed. If you stay, sleep inside the walls so the evening walk in Praça do Giraldo is on foot.

Three places worth it

Templo Romano: an open-air Roman temple in the upper town, no ticket.
Sé de Évora: the full visit includes the roof terrace, the best view of the town (09:00–17:00, last entry 30 minutes before closing; closed 24 Dec afternoon, 25 Dec, 1 Jan).
Capela dos Ossos in the Igreja de São Francisco (every day 09:00–17:00 in winter time, 09:00–18:30 in summer time; closed 1 Jan, Easter Sunday, 24 Dec afternoon and 25 Dec).

What to cut

Trying to add the megaliths (Cromeleque dos Almendres) on the same day without a car: they are outside the town. Keep the day inside the walls.

Day 1 — Lisbon to Évora and back

Morning Intercidades to Évora. Walk up to the Templo Romano and the Sé; do the roof terrace in the morning light. Lunch, then the Capela dos Ossos before it closes. Evening train back to Lisbon (check the last departure, earlier at weekends).
